Impressions of Normandy

Normandy in late spring, is a perfect time to visit this opulent province, land of Calvados and cream, rich pastures and apple orchards! Its pastoral scenery and meandering rivers have enchanted writers and painters throughout the years, particularly the Impressionists who derived such inspiration from its shimmering light and changing moods. This is a holiday to relax with plenty of time for gentle exploration and minimal coach travel - we arrive at our Rouen hotel on the first evening!

Our excursion programme, from the Hôtel La Bertelière and Le Fruitier in Villedieu, has something to suit every taste as we paint an in-depth portrait of this ancient duchy whose history is tied so closely to our own. We visit the manor-house of St-Germain-de-Livet, the great cathedral of Coutances and the abbeys of Jumièges and Mont-St-Michel, the delightful seaside town of Honfleur and the Breton resorts of Cancale and St-Malo.

We taste liqueur and Calvados and explore Rouen, Bayeux and Caen. A tour of the D-Day beaches and a leisurely visit to Monet's garden at Giverny complete this delightful ten days of endless wide-ranging interest.

The ten-day holiday includes:

  • nine nights half-board in a double, twin or single room (single supplement £160).
  • all coach and ferry travel.
  • all excursions and the services of a courier throughout.

Cost: £1,155

Specialist guide services, tasting and admission charges are not included in the holiday price.

These are estimated at 35 euros if joining all our visits.
